Aotearoa

Aotearoa is the Māori name for New Zealand. The most common translation from Māori is  long white cloud, but Aotearoa can be broken down into three words: Ao / tea / roa. Separate they take on new meanings:

ao: cloud, day, world or dawn.

tea: white or light.

roa: long.

The work is presented on a wheel with seven photographs in a View Master. This separates the viewer from the outside world as the viewer looks into it and with a click spins the wheel which shows seven photographs of clouds. A text is presented for each image displayed on the wheel.
